Debt Review and Debt Counselling are essentially the same thing; a Debt Counsellor is the person or company who enters you into a Debt Review payment plan (although the names are often used interchangeably). With Debt Review, your Debt Counsellor asks a Judge to issue a Court Order declaring that you are over-indebted and can not make your repayments. Once you are under Debt Review, your payments are reduced but it means you are blacklisted until all your existing debt is completely paid-off – which can take some time.
The IMB Freedom Account is different. We do not ask the courts for help, like a Debt Counsellor would. Instead, you are using our lawyers to negotiate with your creditors on your behalf.
